SENTIMENTS101.

Why do we dwell on so much sadness?

You know, We people get sentimental at times. We get sad for certain things. Things that didn’t go the way we want it to be. Past recollections. Memories. Grudges. People. Let’s face it. We are some kind of masochist. We love being hurt. We always want to remember the sad moments in our life, sometimes thinking of another way on how we could have coped with the situation. Sometimes we tend to dwell on sadness because it’s another way of releasing our emotions. Rants, grudges, those things are ways on how we release what we hate, what we want or what we want to happen.

It is not wrong to get sentimental. Sometimes it can be healthy, we can think better when we are sad rather than being happy. We learn from reminiscing our past mistakes. To be sad is not wrong. It is a genuine and very real human emotion. What would life be without it? What can be wrong is when we deprive ourself from happiness and dwell on too much sadness. Hence, the so-called drama.

We can’t be happy all the time, because if we were, then that’s not normal. We would be denying ourselves a valid part of the human condition then.
